Hotel

The United States offers a wide choice of hotels ranging from budget motels to luxury resorts. In superior hotels, rates generally do not include breakfast, which is very substantial and expensive, almost like a normal meal. In the lower categories, however, often included a free continental breakfast or complimentary breakfast, which includes hot drinks, cakes, bread, jam, but also a little 'salty food' as eggs, bacon, meats and cheeses.
The rooms are commonly composed of two queen-size beds or a large king size bed, others have a queen-size bed and a sofa bed. They are equipped with TV and American coffee machine, while other facilities such as mini-bar and more depend on the category.
Large hotel chains keep their reservations until 6:00pm on the day of arrival, while penalties vary depending on the type of rate chosen.
Upon arrival you will be asked for a document and credit card as a guarantee, even if you have already paid for the hotel through a travel agency or a website.
Check-in is generally at 3:00pm and check-out at 11:00am. Obviously they are indicative times and you should always inquire in advance about the policy of the hotel booked. If you have to leave the room later than expected, some hotels offer a late check out which must be agreed upon for availability and price.
PRICES
Room prices vary considerably depending on the category and location. There are large chains that offer virtually identical rooms throughout the United States but whose rates may even double depending on the city.
The double room rate generally includes free accommodation for one or two children under the age of 16 - 18 if they are in a room with at least one adult. Room extras generally include a mini-bar, in-room dining, and pay-per-view movies.
CLASSIFICATION
In the United States there is no common classification of hotels, they are rather divided into different types within large groups of belonging so that the customer recognizes his preferred category by name.

Hotels in New York

In New York, and especially in Manhattan, the prices are always very high. For a mid-level hotel prices are around 200 - 300 dollars per room. If these seem excessive you can go down under the $100, but you have to give up your privacy by sharing your room in a hostel. Always in the perspective of saving you can give up sleeping in Manhattan and choose to stay in a neighboring area, but in this case it is preferable to choose a hotel near a metro station. In this sense Long Island City, in Queens, is a good alternative because it is only 15 – 20 minutes from Midtown.

Bed & Breakfast

The classic Bed & Breakfasts are ideal for a more direct relationship with the Americans and possibly have from them valuable advice to visit the chosen location and understand their habits. Prices vary a lot depending on the location and level of the rooms.

Apartments

The apartments for rent are a valid alternative to the hotel and allow you to have some benefits such as using the kitchen. For booking the advice is to rely on secure sites and never leave their system of communication and payment to avoid any fraud.
