The skyscraper owned by the billionaire and President of the United States, Donald Trump, and home to the Trump Organization, is 202 m high and has 58 floors and has a mixed use, with apartments, offices and shops. This use allowed the designer, Der Scutt of the firm of architects Poor, Swanke, Hayden & Connell, to receive permission to design such a tall building, which is generally not allowed in such a limited space as the tower plan. The concession was also granted by exploiting the space rights of the nearby Tiffany store and designating the atrium as a public space. The construction, which began in 1979 and was completed in 1983, was accompanied by some controversy such as the destruction of some historically important sculptures of the Bonwit Teller department store, which was demolished to make room for the skyscraper and which Trump had promised to save, and the hypothesis that some of the manpower for the construction was not regular and underpaid.
Inside the large atrium covered with Breccia Pernice marble is characterized by a large 18-meter waterfall and some shops and clubs.
Among the tenants there is the Trump family that occupies the last three floors of the tower, Prince Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, the actor Bruce Willis and there was Michael Jackson who lived here in the nineties. <
