Built in the Beaux-Arts style between 1905 and 1909, designed by architects Francis Laurens Vinton Hoppin (1867-1941) and Terence A. Koen (1858-1923), the building has an entrance topped by a Corinthian-style colonnade and a dome that dominates it. It was the headquarters of the New York Police Department until 1973. In 1988 it was converted into a luxury apartment building designed by Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects.
